It’s a sad, sad day in Moseley. The terrifying news that Victoria Wines has withdrawn its “six cans of Carling for a fiver” offer, sent shockwaves throughout our fragile community. This has long been the life blood of the more discerning Moseley drinker and provided excellent value for money into the bargain.

A spokesperson for the Victoria Wines empire told us “Eh? We have loads of other offers. What about Heineken? That’s cheap.” We feel that they don’t understand the important role this offer had in helping Moseley residents appreciate the finer aspects of village life.

In a move that should calm some of the discontent, the return of the eight cans of Fosters for six pounds offer has recently been announced. You might well remember that this was the offer that got all of us through the European Championships of 1996.

Eye on Moseley would like to take this opportunity to say “We love you Carling and would like to thank you for everything you did for us.”
