Yesterday angry residents called on Moseley Traffic Chiefs to explain the surreal decision to redirect traffic from the Alcester Road through a local pet shop. The strange action occurred after the main road was blocked by a road traffic accident.
In a penitent statement traffic bosses told us, “We’ve learnt a number of important lessons from this incident. Firstly, as anyone that’s ever seen Watership Down will tell you, rabbits don’t like motor vehicular transport. Whilst the free flow of traffic is our primary concern we also recognise that we shouldn’t subject bunnies to their most persistent nightmare.
We’ve also learnt that shops just aren’t wide enough to let most traffic through. In fact you can’t really get much more than the odd cyclist through Weird ‘N Wonderful. It also turns out that the bloke from Weird ‘N Wonderful has got a very low tolerance of cyclists. With hindsight parading an early morning convoy of sweaty lycra in front of him was likely to kick up a shit storm.
In future we will look at alternative routes for diversions. We are considering using Woodbridge Road which does have the advantage of being a road and a very low rabbit population.”
It seems that this is a lesson well learned.
